Butterfly valve is a quarter-turn rotational valve that is used to control the flow of liquids or gases. It consists of a disc-shaped closure element and a circular body with a stem that connects the disc to an actuator. The closure element is positioned within the body, and rotates on an axis perpendicular to the flow of the fluid. When the valve is open, the disc is rotated so that it is parallel to the flow, allowing the fluid to pass through.
